Sammanfattning
Clinical decision support systems (CDSS) can facilitate tasks for the physicians by making it easier both to do the right thing and to avoid making mistakes. CDSS have
been shown to influence clinical decision-making but more research is needed to show effect on actual clinical outcomes. A CDSS consists of three types of information
sources - patient-specific, information specific to the therapeutic decision, and guidelines in the form of decision algorithms. National coordination of information
sources/knowledge bases is needed. The principles of Open Data ought to be employed as far as possible. It is the specific needs of the decision maker in the real life
clinical settings that have to define the scope of CDSS. Physicians - individually and through professional bodies - have to express their demands on needs and take an
active part in development of CDSS. Pilots, structured evaluations and risk assessments have to be performed before widespread implementation of any CDSS.
