Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a
complex, heterogeneous autoimmune
disease with a wide spectrum of clinical
manifestations from mild to severe
multiple organ/system involvement.
In the last decade, the management of
SLE has evolved tremendously, and there
is increasing data to support the use
of a variety of immunosuppressants
that should reduce the dependence on
corticosteroids to control lupus disease.
