Dagböger reducerer posttraumatisk stress-syndrom efter indlaeggelse i et intensiv afsnitt
Sammanfattning
The article describes a qualitative project on keeping of a diary by intensive care patients. The
aim of the study is, by conducting research interviews in the patients' own homes, to study their use
of a diary as a means of processing a period of hospitalisation on an intensive care unit. The
interview took place approximately three months after discharge from intensive care. The focus of
this study was whether use of a diary can reduce Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
The results of the study show that keeping a diary can reduce insomnia, nightmares, false memories
and memory loss and thereby reduce the incidence of PTSD.
The follow-up interviews in the patients' homes in particular appear to be a catalyst for processing
the inpatient experience. The aim in future is for this interview to form part of systematic follow-up of
an inpatient period on intensive care - if possible in an intensive care outpatient clinic.
