Ambulant neuropsykologisk opfölgning af patienter indlagt med aseptisk meningitis

Aseptic meningitis is considered to be a benign illness with mild symptoms, and the prognosis is usually good. However, retrospective studies have demonstrated that these patients may experience cognitive seqeulae. A neuropsychologist was affiliated to the Department of Infectious
Diseases, and neuropsychological findings in patients with aseptic meningitis were assessed. In conclusion, at twelve months of follow-up cognitive dysfunction persist among the majority of patients; 75% had mental fatigue and 45% had changed their work status.
