Sammanfattning
The spleen is the organ most often damaged after blunt abdominal trauma. The patient can present in various ways, ranging from multi-trauma accidents to subtle complaints of abdominal murmur. In this article the diagnostic approach to blunt splenic trauma is described, along with the
three possible treatment options: splenectomy, arterial embolization and conservative, non-operative approach. Possible complications to the different approaches as well as observation period are discussed.
