Sammanfattning

The Body in Policy Documents regarding Mental Health Care Drawing on discourse analysis, this article explores how the body is understood in policy documents regarding mental health care. The purpose is to discuss conditions for various practices. According to discourse analytical theory, texts set the premise for and reflect practice. This study demonstrates that the body and relationships between mental and physical health are only to a limited extent described in the documents. The body, it seems, is mainly related to somatic health and physical activity and seldom presented as communicative and expressive - as a source of insight and change. Our findings are discussed in light of perspectives that challenge current language and highlight the body’s dimension of experience and meaning.
