This qualitative study explores psychologists’ experiences of personal and professional change
after training in Circle of Security Parenting© DVD (COS-P-DVD). Circle of Security is a program
developed to strengthen attachment between caregiver and child. Eleven psychologists were
interviewed concerning their experiences of change after training. Five meaning categories emerged
through the content analysis: an experience of meaningfulness and enthusiasm, about using
elements from the COS-P-DVD to customize guidance, about personal change and own children, I
recognize this, I recognize myself, and the need for additional follow-up. The informants reported
finding it useful to apply the course material in their daily practices, but their practices deviated from
the COS-manual and the training intention. Possibilities and limitations in light of implementation of
COS-P-DVD in a Norwegian treatment context are discussed.
