Sammanfattning

In this project the authors explored what aspects of vocational rehabilitation people with a schizophrenia diagnosis see as important to obtain work. Twenty-one participants were interviewed about their experiences. Work is considered important for dignity, sense of community and daily structure. To obtain work the participants emphasized the need for follow-up by competent and trustworthy helpers who understand what they are struggling with, who can convey hope, and who are continuously focused on getting them back to work. Collaboration between helpers is crucial. We discuss how follow-up can be organized within the Norwegian health and welfare system.
