Individualbehandleres erfaringer med traumespesifikk gruppebehandling på et mindre DPS
Sammanfattning
New research shows that one-third of all Norwegians have been exposed to some type of
violence or
abuse. Such exposure increases risk of mental and somatic health problems. Trauma-specific
treatment
is therefore important, but can be challenging in decentralized clinics due to small units. Group-
based
treatment can improve trauma-specific treatment in smaller clinics, but will influence the clinical
tasks
of all therapists. The first two years that trauma-specific group treatment was offered at the district
psychiatric
centre (DPS) of Western Finnmark, two focus group interviews were carried out to explore individual
therapists’ experiences with this treatment. Findings pointed to experienced challenges, such as
uncertainty of therapist role, but also experienced gains, such as increased competence.
