Skam, stigmatisering och framtidstro bland långtidssjukskrivna i "osynliga" diagnoser
Sammanfattning
The aim was to examine whether there is an experience of shame and stigma
among long-term sick in psychiatric and musculoskeletal diagnoses and
if there were differences between the diagnostic groups. The Swedish Social
Insurance Agency selected the participants, from their ICD-10 system.
2,300 individuals responded to a survey. A combined group with both types
of disorders was also formed. Among those with a psychiatric or with
a combination diagnosis 33% and 34% respectively were classified to the
high shame group compared to 10% among those with a musculoskeletal
diagnosis. Among individuals with a psychiatric diagnosis who also reported
stigma 16% regarded disability pension as a realistic alternative while the
corresponding figure among those with a muskuloskeletal diagnosis were
31% and 39% among those with a combination diagnosis.
