Forskjeller i stressnivå hos mödre og fedre til förskolebarn med cerebral parese
Sammanfattning
his non-randomized study was conducted in 2004 to 2011 and included 76 parents of 42 children
aged 3-4 years with cerebral palsy participating in the Program Intensified Habilitation, (PIH),
Sørlandet hospital.
The aim of the study was to explore whether gender influenced parental coping and stress level.
Stress was measured by Parenting Stress Index.
We found that that mothers and fathers experience similar patterns of stress related to their child.
However, they experience stress related to their own life situation very differently. The mothers
experienced significantly more stress than fathers in the areas health, role restriction, depression
and relation to spouse. A higher proportion of the mothers had clinically elevated levels of stress
compared with the fathers.
