Sammanfattning
This article presents a series of 14 consecutive cases of oral carcinoma
met in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,
Hospital of Southwest Denmark, Esbjerg, during a 12-monthperiod.
The cases are significant for the diversity of their clinical
presentation.
The incidence of oral cancer continues to increase in Denmark.
So the vital role general dentists play in the early detection of this
disease is important. Often the dentist is the initial contact for the
patient with oral cancer, and it is crucial that the dentist is always
aware of the variety of clinical manifestations of the disease. Early
diagnosis remains the key to successful treatment of patients
with oral cancer.
