Sammanfattning
Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a rare form of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which presents as an accumulation of lymphatic cells within a body cavity. It is
classified as a human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8)-positive lymphoma and is associated with HIV. The prognosis is poor. Cases of HHV-8-negative PEL have been described in
immunocompetent patients. We report a case of an 86-year-old man diagnosed with HHV-8-negative PEL. Based on case reports he was treated with pleuracentesis and
was still in complete remission one year later.
