Sammanfattning
Affect consciousness is operationalized as degrees of awareness, tolerance, emotional
expression, and conceptual expression of specific affects; aspects assessed through an Affect
Consciousness Interview (ACI) and scoring scales (ACSs) developed for use with adults. This study,
which was recently published in an international journal, explored whether an age-adjusted version
of the ACI and the ACSs were applicable to a sample of 30 children 11 year old with internalizing
problems. The study examined inter-rater reliability, along with relationships between AC and various
aspects of mental health. Satisfactory inter-rater reliability as well as consistent relationships
between AC and the various aspects of mental health coincides with previous research. The results
indicate that the adjusted ACI and rating scales are useful tools in therapeutic work with children from
the age of 11.
