Sammanfattning

The article highlights the public health students’ employability and future em-ployment. Students’ different backgrounds and previous experience reflects in many cases their experiences of both public health education as well as future prospects. Students study Public Health Sciences to get more know-ledge, get more career opportunities and/or to acquire expertise in the area of children and young people. The students described that after the practicum course that initially the employer did not know what skills and qualifications a public health student possesses. The experience was therefore that their broad knowledge and expertise in the field of public health was received surprising positively from the employer as well as the student’s ability to work and think across sectors. The mapping of work opportunities in the public health area showed that it is wider than the specific title of Public health worker, and the labor market is better for public health specialists at a broader glance.
