Sammanfattning
Background – Shot trauma to the face can cause severe damage
with complicated treatment that requires multidisciplinary
cooperation. Every case is unique and shot trauma to the face
is very rare in Denmark. Experience in shot trauma is limited, and
there is a need to share case studies.
Case study – 57-year-old-man with extensive facial injuries and
multiple fractures of the facial skeleton after trauma with shotgun
in suicide attempt. He initially undergoes a complicated operation
in which the remaining bone and soft tissue is repositioned.
Hospitalisation follows for 32 days with 2 additional operations
needed. Plans are now made for reconstruction with bone and
soft tissue grafts. The treatment is described, from the first contact
with the ambulance to the planning of the reconstruction
