Barnmorskans samtal om alkohol i tidig graviditet med blivande mammor och pappor
Sammanfattning
The current article describes a method for midwives to provide social support
for an alcohol-free pregnancy to mothers and fathers. While most pregnant
women stop drinking alcohol after becoming pregnant, previous mothers
are just as likely as first-time mothers to drink during pregnancy. Most
pregnant women (92%) stated that the expectant fathers/co-parents support
to abstain was important. In addition, a majority of the expectant fathers/
co-parents decreased their alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Most
expectant fathers/co-parents appreciated being included in the midwife´s
talk about alcohol, and reported that the AUDIT counseling was engaging.
During pregnancy it is possible to recognize expectant fathers/co-parents
with high alcohol consumption and promote interventions for decreased drinking
during pregnancy and parenthood.
