Sammanfattning

There is a need to provide supportive services to children and adolescents who grow up in families with alcohol problems. Since it has been difficult to reach out with traditional support, new effective strategies are required and support via the Internet is one possibility. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a web-based information and support program, Alcohol & Coping, may succeed in reaching this group of adolescents. Results reveal that Alcohol & Coping reached a large number of adolescents and that those who received the program decreased their alcohol consumption. A large proportion of adolescents also showed symptoms of depression and one conclusion is that this group of adolescents are in need of a more comprehensive Internet-based support program.
