Behandling av odontofobi for pasienter med post-traumatiske plager - en litteraturoversikt
Sammanfattning
Odontophobia is a common anxiety disorder, with potentially severe consequences for the individuals affected. Among several comorbid symptoms, patients with odontophobia often report post-traumatic symptoms. Although there exist evidence-based therapies for odontophobia, there is little knowledge regarding suitability of these treatments for individuals with post-traumatic symptoms, such as PTSD or dissociative disorders. This systematic review investigates articles of the treatment of odontophobia for patients with post-traumatic symptoms. Three articles were identified, where two treatments were investigated. Patients with mild to moderate post-traumatic symptoms demonstrate promising effect of CBT and EMDR, but results from patients with severe post-traumatic symptoms are lacking. Recommendations for future research and clinical practice is provided.
