Mitralklapendokarditis diagnosticeret efter panoftalmitis med Enterococcus faecalis
Sammanfattning
An 86-year-old man lost his vision three days after cataract surgery on the left eye. Topical treatments for panophthalmitis were in accordance with international guidelines, a broad-range PCR showed E. faecalis in corpus vitreum, and of IV antiobiotic treatment was initiated. To exclude endocarditis an echocardiography was performed showing mitral regurgitation with a small mobile vegetation. Uncertainty concerning a possible causality between panophthalmitis and mitral valve endocarditis remains.
