Sammanfattning
A system for electronic prescribing of multi-dose dispensed drugs (MDD) has been in use in four Norwegian municipalities since 2014. This report presents the number and type of discrepancies between the general practitioners’ (GPs) and the pharmacy’s medication records two years after the implementation. Of the 328 medication records compared before the implementation, 60% had at least one discrepancy. Two years after the implementation 336 records were compared, and 29% had at least one discrepancy. When dietary supplements and pro re nata medication were excluded, 43% of the records had discrepancies before implementation and 24% after. Electronic prescriptions of MDD seems to reduce the number of discrepancies between the GPs and pharmacy medication records. A reduction was seen both for MDD and for drugs not suitable for MDD. Even though the electronic prescribing reduced discrepancies, there were still errors in the medication records after the implementation.
