Sammanfattning
In Denmark, 3% of births take place outside hospital, and the rate has been doubled over the last decade. According to the national health authorities the decision on birth place for women without obstetrical risk factors should be based on an informed choice. The evidence is limited, but indicates that planned home birth in low-risk women is safe. Risk of intrapartum transfer to hospital is 33% in primipara and 8% in multipara. Medical interventions and perineal lesions may be reduced in planned home births. In primipara the risk of perinatal mortality and morbidity may be slightly increased.
