Little research has been published regarding the collaboration of services provided to people affected by both intellectual disability and mental illnesses. This article presents parents’ experiences with such collaboration. The findings, based on empirical material collected by interviewing four parents, show that the parents had little knowledge of collaboration amongst the service providers. Although they perceived a recent improvement of the collaboration between themselves, their adult children and the service providers, they felt that the services today are poorly coordinated and not easily accessible. According to the parents, the use of power and communication can promote or restrain collaboration.
