Sammanfattning
This article examines underlying displacements in social trust developments
in Sweden, 1996 – 2016. The material is citizen data from the SOM institute.
The main result is that health has become increasingly important during
the period, either measured as the absence of sick leave or as subjective
health – a result that has not previously been shown in multivariate analysis
over time in Sweden. The study also establish the previously known result
that younger people, aged 16 – 29, have had decreasing social trust during
the period, especially during the first part of the period. The significance of
growing up outside of Sweden is not as clear as reported in previous studies.
The results highlight two key factors that can indicate changes in the social
trust facade: the importance of health and youth.
