Sammanfattning
The article highlights how trust is shaped in governance of health care, for
improvement work at operative levels and employee engagement. The study
focuses on the use of key performance indicators at the political and topmanagement
level and its implications for operational managers’ leadership
of improvement work. The analysis is based on both interview-data with politicians
and officials in three regions, hospital management at five hospitals,
operative managers at 30 units and questionnaire-data of operative
managers and employees at the 30 units. The results show variations in
governance and managerial practices regarding anchorage and involvement
in decision-making across organizational levels. Practice servant logistics of
leadership and governance was related to strengthened conditions for trust,
improvement work and employee engagement.
