Sammanfattning
Parkinson’s disease is a common, chronic neurodegenerative disorder. Patients suffering from this debilitating disease often experience a range of non-motor symptoms in addition to their motor symptoms. This paper provides an overview of the most common non-motor symptoms, using three clinical vignettes. A multidisciplinary approach is suggested for the treatment of these symptoms, and there is evidence supporting the use of cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety and depressive symptoms. The evidence for the treatment of impulse control disorders and sleep disorders is sparse, but psychoeducation and cognitive behavioral therapy may be a viable option to reduce the severity of symptoms. Other neuropsychiatric symptoms are without known treatment options and may have a chronic course.
