Sammanfattning
By 2017 IVO has examined two cases with serious illnesses in two children under 6 months of age. In one case, the 4-week old child died. Factors that may have affected the treatment may have been lacking knowledge that the disease is present in society and requests to be restrictive with antibiotic treatment. The current disease cases occurred during a period when RS virus was common. In case of suspicion of whooping cough, prophylaxis and treatment should begin early for optimal effect. Prophylactic treatment of infants younger than 6 months should start without waiting for test results if you suspect that the child is exposed to whooping cough infection.
