Sammanfattning
The article describes experiences from a collaborative project for newcomer’s migrants in Uppsala County. The employment office, Uppsala municipality
and the Red Cross Treatment Center collaborated to improve establishment of migrants. Participants answered questionnaires and participated in interviews. They were motivated to work, but were doubtful about their ability to do so. Subjective well-being and symptoms of depression were significantly
lower following efforts in the project. PTSD symptoms were lower, but did not differ significantly between measurements. No change was found for
somatic symptoms. Health was perceived to have improved, although mental and physical disability was thought of as an obstacle to work, as well as
weak language skills, problems using work experience and being burdened by family difficulties
