Diagnostic imaging is a medical specialty in intense evolution development. Over several years the development and implementation of faster and more precise imaging techniques have made medical imaging an essential part of the diagnostic workup in Danish hospitals. Quick and precise imaging is important especially in emergency departments as well as in cancer diagnostics, but also in the follow-up of tracing progression and recurrence. This article is a brief overview of the different imaging techniques available in hospitals, their strengths and weaknesses, but also the risks associated in using these techniques. The target audience is health personnel working outside hospitals, not using it in their daily practice.
