Sammanfattning

This study shows how women who had undergone breast reduction experienced the information they got and how they where received before surgery and after childbirth. The purpose was to find out, through interviews and literature, how these women experienced the information about lactation from the doctor before the surgery, at the pregnancy, after childbirth and when they met the midwifes and the nurses. Nine women was interviewed and they represent different hospitals and child-stations. The study shows that these women have got divergent information both according to the quality and the quantity. Incomplete information before the surgery lead often to disappointment. Information without nuances gave the women worse self-confidence. None of the women regret doing the surgery but would like to have honest information and support from the doctor and the nurses. This result can be useful to the personnel, so they can be understanding and have more sympathy.
