Sammanfattning
Since 1993, nurses in a surgical
ward have been working with
quality development related to
patients with peripheral intravenous
line. The aim of this study
was to describe the process of
this development. The DySSSymethod
(Dynamic Standard Setting
System), a method for establishing
quality goals for structur,
process and outcome, is a
practical approach which was
used to assure the quality of care.
The method facilitates the identification
of quality indicators.
Nine quality indicators have been
measured 13 times. One indicator
is for example, Number of patients
with cannulae in place less
than 24 hours, related to, the
total number of patients with cannulae.
The conclusion is that
quality development with indicators,
regularly measured, raised
the quality of care for the patients.
