Sammanfattning
Loneliness and social contacts in
a sample of elderly individuals
living in nursing homes were examined.
Associations between
social contacts and emotional
and social loneliness were assessed.
The sample consisted of 113
participants, aged 65-101 years,
residing in Bergen, Norway. A
survey design, based on interview,
was used. Data were collected
by use of The revised Social
Provisions Scale, the Unidimentional
Question of loneliness and
Family and friendships Contact
Scale. The results showed that the
social provisions «attachment»,
«social integration» and «ressurance
of worth» were met to a
high degree. «Attachment» showed
the highest score. They experienced
adequate social contact.
Nearly half of the respondents
reported loneliness often and
occasionally. High frequency of
social contact with children and
grandchildren had a statistical
significant effect on low level of
social isolation.
