Sammanfattning

In 1999, the Danish National Board of Health adjusted its recommendation concerning alcohol in pregnancy to "Avoid alcohol in pregnancy if possible; if you drink, drink no more than 1 drink per day; do not drink every day". The average alcohol intake in Denmark is low, but binge drinking is reported by 40-50% of women in early pregnancy. A systematic method for asking pregnant women about alcohol intake and for tracking alcohol abusers is suggested, including questions on average alcohol intake, binge drinking, and a Danish version of the TWEAK questionnaire.
