Sammanfattning
Treatment of patients with stable coronary artery disease includes medication, angioplasty and bypass surgery. Bypass surgery results in prolongation of life in patients with a left main lesion and/or three-vessel disease, especially in the presence of reduced left ventricular function and/or diabetes mellitus. In the remaining patients - those with one- and two-vessel disease - the occurrence of future cardiac death and acute myocardial infarction appears to be independent of treatment choice. All therapeutic modalities, however, result in the relief of angina pectoris.
