Sammanfattning

Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden now have politically accepted national public health and health promotion programmes, including overall objectives and strategies for the further development of the health of the nation and particularly emphasising health promotion and prevention. The overall objectives of the programmes are almost identical, while strategies and interventions may vary. The Swedish programme is also oriented towards the welfare of the population. This article presents an overview of objectives and strategies. National public health and health promotion programmes have come to stay as important parts of each nation's welfare and health policy.
