Sammanfattning
Due to the introduction of reforms and quality improvement in medical education, a need has arisen to search the literature on research and experience in various aspects of medical education. This article gives an overview of some of the common terms and definitions used in international journals in the domain of medical education. The terminology can be ambiguous and confusing. This is partly because the meaning of concepts is changing according to research and development within the domain and partly because the terms are used with implicit meanings according to a specific context. In order to avoid misunderstandings in describing practice in medical education, careful explication of terms and context is recommended.
