Sammanfattning
Decorating the skin with henna tattoos is in vogue among European and American youngsters, particularly when on vacation. A case of contact dermatitis developed after the use of a permanent oxidative hair dye is presented. This 14-year-old boy was probably sensitized nine months earlier by a "temporary" henna tattoo applied during a vacation in Egypt. A patch test for sensitivity to paraphenylene-diamine (PPD) was positive. Contact dermatitis due to henna use is rare, but the use of henna tattoos can cause sensitization to PPD, resulting in severe contact dermatitis.
