Sammanfattning
Introduction: The aim of the study was to describe the incidence of human leptospirosis in Denmark from 1980 to 2002. Materials and methods: An epidemiological study was conducted of diagnosed and notified cases of human leptospirosis in Denmark during the 23-year period. Results: There were 414 diagnosed cases of leptospirosis, 86 of which were notified to the Department of Epidemiology. Overall, there was a downward trend in the number of cases per year with an average annual incidence of 0.4/105 population. A high proportion of cases (48%) was occupation-associated, with 63% of cases occurring in fish farmers. The three most frequently occurring serovars were: patoc (40%), icterohaemorrhagiae (26%) and sejroe (22%).
