Sammanfattning
Introduction: The Danish Colorectal Cancer Group (DCCG) database on adenocarcinoma of the rectum and colon has included patients treated since 1 May 2001. The purpose of the database is to monitor the compliance of and treatment of colorectal cancer with the defined quality standards. A preliminary condition of this assessment is that the data be complete and correct. Materials and methods: Database data from 1 May to 31 December 2001 were examined. Their completeness was assessed by comparing them with data from the Danish National Patient Registry. The validity was estimated as the percentage of identical registrations of the initial registration from the hospital and a second independent reregistration based on case reports. The kappa and the percentage of identical registrations were estimated for each diagnostics question. Results: The completeness of the first eight months' data was 86 percent nationwide before the issuance of reminders. On average, the number of identical registrations varied between 84 and 94 percent and the kappa between 0.55 and 0.67. The percentage of identical registrations was never below 62%. Discussion: Compared to other databases, the data quality of the DCCG was satisfactory especially when considering that it was the initial eight months that were estimated.
