Sammanfattning
Dual-blockade treatment is based on the principle of creating the broadest and most efficient blockade of the effects of angiotensin II by using the combination of an ACE inhibitor and an angiotensin II receptor blocker. By combining two different pharmacological principles that inhibit both the angiotensin-converting enzyme and the angiotensin II receptor, it is possible to both block the production and the actions of angiotensin II and serve as a potent treatment alternative in patients with hypertension, renal failure and congestive heart failure. This article provides an overview of the results achieved in patients with hypertension, diabetes, nephropathy and heart failure.
