Sammanfattning

During the spring of 2003, 42 patients were hospitalised in Denmark due to suspicion of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Of these 42 patients, 16 were admitted to the Department of Infectious Diseases, Rigshospitalet. The developed specific test for SARS (PCR for SARS-CoV) was not yet available in Denmark. Of these 16 patients, nine patients and three patients, respectively, fulfilled the applied criteria of suspected SARS and probable SARS. None of them were diagnosed as having SARS, but due to the extensive examination program, seven patients were diagnosed with other respiratory infections. Demographic data, examination program and results of the examinations are presented for there 12 patients.
