Sammanfattning
Aspects of the regulation of blood concentrations of triacylglycerol-rich lipoproteins (TRL) are reviewed. Two main factors which determine this concentration are food intake and exercise. This article reviews the effects of food composition, especially low versus high carbohydrate content, on the TRL concentration in the perspective of the ``thrifty genes'' hypothesis. Based on the rather limited available knowledge, the timing between food intake and exercise which will have the most favourable effect on the TRL concentration is discussed.
