Sammanfattning
Tularaemia is a zoonotic infection caused by the gram-negative bacterium Francisella tularensis. Tularaemia is primarily a disease of wild animals; in humans the disease is incidental and usually results from contact with blood-sucking insects or wild animals. We present a case of tularaemia manifesting itself by the most common clinical syndrome, an ulcerative lesion at the site of inoculation with regional lymphadenopathy. This case is the first case of tularaemia in Denmark in which the bacterium has been successfully cultured.
