Sammanfattning
Both genetic and environmental factors influence the risk of developing cerebral palsy. Cerebral malformations are a frequent cause. The genes for lissencephaly and schizencephaly have been localised, as well as the genes for some rare hereditary cerebral palsy forms without malformations. One study has shown that Factor V Leiden mutation is more frequent among cerebral palsy cases with porencephaly than in those without, and there is a strong case for further research on coagulation disorders and the risk of cerebral palsy. Dyskinetic cerebral palsy, caused by kernicterus, is an excellent example of cerebral palsy that can be prevented, including when the cause is genetic.
