Sammanfattning
Electronic journals are slowly
implemented in home health care.
Shared whiteboard is an electronic
area where the users, by an
advanced mobile phone or a lap
top, had access a secure database
where they can share information.
The purpose of this study
was to evaluate mobile access to
shared whiteboard and electronic
journals in two home care and
home health care districts in the
Göteborg, Sweden. The purpose
was also to illuminate the professional
caregivers’ competence
and opinions towards computers.
The study was partly evaluated by
a questionnaire and partly by
analysis of log files from the computer
traffic. The findings showed
that the users were very positive
to the whiteboard although some
of the users never logged in. The
whiteboard facilitated the communication
between the colleagues.
The nurses did not need to
drive by car to the office, as often
as previously. The mobile phone
was easy to use but many of the
respondents considered that the
connection to Internet was too
slow. Mobile access to shared
whiteboard and electronic journals
can improve the collaboration
between professional caregivers
in home care and home
health care. A shared whiteboard
can make nurses better prepared
when that will meet their patients
or clients.
