Sammanfattning

We report a case of myoclonus following combined spinal-epidural anaesthesia with bupivacaine. A 62-year-old man underwent total knee arthroplasty under combined spinal-epidural anaesthesia. Five hours after gaining full perception of the motor function of the lower extremities, the patient suddenly developed strong, irregular, brief flexions and extensions of the right thigh and knee. The myoclonic event lasted about 30 minutes. The patient was discharged from the PACU without abnormal neurological findings and continued the postoperative epidural analgesia regime for the next four days.
