Sammanfattning
This case report describes a 30-year-old female patient with Recklinghausen's disease. She suffered from diffuse stomachache, diarrhoea and weight loss for three years. Clinically and supported by a barium follow-through, she was thought to suffer from Crohn's disease. She was treated for this with appropriate drugs, however with no relief of symptoms. No serological markers could confirm the suspicion. An iliocaecal resection with microscopy of the resected specimen provided the diagnosis: intestinal neurofibromatosis. This may be found in up to 25% of patients with Recklinghausen's disease, but it rarely causes symptoms.
