Sammanfattning
RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION : Botulinum toxin injected intracutaneously is a safe and effective method for the treatment of Frey's syndrome. The results are convincing and the method is well documented in the literature. So far, no serious side effects have been found.
MATERIAL AND METHODS : We present an overview over Frey's syndrome. Diagnosis with Minors sweating test and treatment with botulinum toxin is presented on the basis of our own experience. Relevant literature was found through Medline.
BACKGROUND : Frey's syndrome, also known as gustatory sweating, has been known for 150 years. However, effective treatment was established only as recently as in 1994, with botulinum toxin used for the treatment of torticollis or other forms of spasticity.
