Three different qualitative studies done by the authors are presented in which - in spite of care being the fundamental principle of the nursing profession - a lack of care is revealed in numerous situations. The fundamental concept of care is defined, and the causes of lack of care are suggested. The analysis of the causes of lack of care is performed from both an organizational and an educational perspective.
