Sammanfattning
This article describes the development of the Bobath Concept, its current practise and theoretical assumptions and gives a few examples of the possible therapeutic choices in physiotherapy treatment. The current Bobath Concept is based on a systems model of motor control, up to date movement science and a strong tradition of clinical knowledge. Physiotherapy based on the Bobath Concept is characterised by an individualised, problem solving and dynamic approach to assessment and treatment. Treatment strategies and techniques are constantly adapted in close interaction between the therapist and the patient. The therapist frequently uses his hands to sense the patients activity and to facilitate appropriate activity during functional training. There is an emphasis on how the patients are problem solving their tasks, on how the quality in the interaction between body parts influences the ability to perform these tasks and how this influences the reorganisation in the patients central nervous system. Key words: Bobath concept, neurological rehabilitation, system models, motor control.
